As a lifelong resident and former Mayor of Neptune Township, Eric Houghtaling has always strived to give back to the community where he raised his family. Eric is a career electrician and a proud, 40-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 400. Through his work with labor, Eric has gained a keen understanding of the issues facing working families. Eric has traveled across the state to assist our farming communities, promote manufacturing, preserve our environment, and improve our marine, fishery and seafood industry.
Eric is the Chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, the Vice-Chair of the Oversight, Reform and Federal Relations Committee, member of the Tourism, Gaming and the Arts Committee, member of the Labor Committee and serves as the Deputy Majority Leader.
Eric and his wife Linda have a son, two daughters and seven grandchildren.
As a mother of two young girls, Joann Downey sought public office to help shape Monmouth County into a place her daughters can proudly call home. Joann is a daughter of a State Trooper and former Deputy State Attorney General who prosecuted cases of child abuse and neglect. She is currently an attorney in private practice. Through her work in the General Assembly, Joann fights to provide real property tax relief to residents, close the gender wage gap, establish permanent telehealth services, and advocate for our most vulnerable communities.
Joann is the Chair of the Human Services Committee, member of the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, and serves as the General Assembly Parliamentarian.
Joann and her husband Stephen -- a professor of history at Ocean County College -- are parents to two young girls, Siobhan and Saoirse.
